Welcome to Goodstart Moonee Ponds! We're in the heart of our community, just a short walk from the train station.

A passionate team of highly qualified educators lead our long day care and early learning centre.

Many of our staff hold bachelor's degrees and postgraduate qualifications. Their expertise supports every child's learning from nursery to kindergarten.

With six age-specific rooms and two versatile outdoor play spaces – including a weatherproof yard – our centre offers a nurturing and inspiring environment where children thrive.

We also offer a rotating seasonal menu prepared by our talented onsite chef, Raquel. Children and families love our meals so much that we've made a cookbook!

At Goodstart Moonee Ponds, our philosophy centres around the belief that every child is a unique individual with their own interests and strengths. We embrace a play-based learning approach that nurtures curiosity and creativity, allowing children to explore their world in meaningful ways.
We prioritise:

Through our philosophy, we aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and become confident, capable learners.
Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them.
Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators.
We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.
At our Moonee Ponds centre, we're proud to inspire your child's love of learning with the support of our passionate and qualified early childhood experts. Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our three and four-year-old kindergarten program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start school.

Hi, I’m Narelle Abbey - and I’m so excited to welcome you to Goodstart Moonee Ponds!

I stepped into the role of Centre Director here in February 2025, and what a wonderful journey it’s been so far! With a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and almost ten years of hands-on experience in the industry, I’ve loved every step - from Educator to Senior Educator, Teacher, Educational Leader, Assistant Director, and now Centre Director.

Working with children and families is truly my passion. I’m all about creating a warm, welcoming, and inclusive space where children feel safe to explore, learn, and grow – and where families feel right at home. Our centre is built on strong relationships, playful learning, and a whole lot of heart.

At Goodstart Moonee Ponds, we’re proud to offer high-quality early learning programs that reflect the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standards, and Child Safe Standards. But what really makes us special is our community - a vibrant team of dedicated educators, wonderful families, and amazing little learners.

My goal is to lead with compassion, kindness, and collaboration - creating a place where children thrive, educators are supported to shine, and families feel truly connected.

Government Funded Kindergarten Program

At Moonee Ponds, you and your child can enjoy the best of both worlds. Our early learning centre offers a Government-funded kindergarten program and long day care under the one roof. Our kindergarten teachers are University qualified and provide a play-based learning program that will support your child in learning the skills for school and life.
