Townsville teacher's tips on regional work and living
Early childhood teacher Kylie Ryan of Goodstart Kirwan Golf Links Drive shares her insights.
Goodstart Early Learning Carlisle is located on the corner of Archer Street and Rutland Avenue, within walking distance of the Carlisle train station.
Our service offers education and care to children aged from six weeks to six years. Families and educators at our centre come from a variety of different cultures, and we celebrate and embrace this diversity.
We are proud to provide high quality learning and care, and our team of educators work together to provide our families with a fun, safe, stimulating and welcoming environment. All educators are trained in the Early Years Learning Framework, and we incorporate the EYLF philosophy of Belonging, Being and Becoming into our daily programs.
Inside, the rooms are all set up with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning; and we are focused on ensuring the children are ready to take that all important step up to school.
Outside, we have age-appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. From our beautiful Rainbow Garden, to engaging play structures, every corner is filled with opportunities for discovery and learning.
We use Storypark to share your child's learning. This industry leading program lets you see the learning experiences of your child and allows you to interact with educators to enable real connections between what your child learns at Goodstart Carlisle and what happens at home. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.
Community is also important to us and through visits to the centre and participation in events and activities throughout the year we are able to enrich the learning experience. Art and music experiences are provided on a daily basis which allow the children to freely express their creativity.
We look forward to meeting you and your family and working together to provide the best start in life for your child.
I have been in the Early Learning sector for more than 9 years, 6 of those working for Goodstart Early Learning where I have performed various positions such as Senior Educator, Educational Leader and Assistant Director, leading up to Centre Director.
I also have a Business Degree and ran my own business (linked to the mining sector) for more than 10 years.
I am originally from Chile; where I volunteered at various institutions helping children within different social and economic childcare environments.
Working with children is my passion, I want to contribute to their growth and development, I want to help them accomplish their full potential in an enjoyable and positive manner, within an environment that is safe and allows them to be confident in exploring the world.
I believe that a strong and secure relationship between children, families and educators is essential to achieve and maintain successful outcomes for children. Therefore, I would like to invite you to work together while keeping an open and trusting relationship so we can support your child’s learning and development, within a supportive, warm and safe environment.
