Townsville teacher's tips on regional work and living
Early childhood teacher Kylie Ryan of Goodstart Kirwan Golf Links Drive shares her insights.
We're your local early learning centre providing care and education to children in our community. We’re built on Boonwurrung country.
We have four rooms: a nursery for our babies, a stimulating toddler space, and two classrooms for our three- and four-year-old kinder program, delivered by qualified early childhood teachers.
The children love exploring our large, wonderous yards – and we feed them a nutritious dinner before home time. How good is that?
We invite you to take a tour and let us show you around. You’ll find us close to East Bentleigh Primary School, DFO Moorabbin, and Moorabbin Train Station.
During your tour, you’ll see we’re in a picturesque neighbourhood near some shops, a main road, and public transport, so easy to get to.
You’ll get a feel for what we’re about – children first, always – and meet our longstanding, consistent educators. Our team is passionate about forming close bonds with families and taking a holistic approach to early learning.
Our programs are based on the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework. They’re flexible around children’s interests, nurturing babies according to their needs while getting our older children ready to take the important step to school.
A range of sensory and play-based activities help to develop children’s language and literacy, science, numeracy, music, art, communication, problem-solving, and social skills.
We offer excursions and community walks to local primary schools and businesses, including a café, newsagency, bakery, post office, and vet. Community professionals, including the dentist, maternal child health nurse, occupational therapists, and psychologists, also visit us.
While we cover the cost of all fresh, chef-prepared meals and snacks, nappies, wipes, hats, and sunscreen, we also offer dinner to the children, which sets us apart.
We believe in clear and open communication and will keep you updated on your child’s progress and development through family nights and newsletters.
Discover the difference at Goodstart Bentleigh East - South Road.
When we first went looking for a childcare centre when our first child was going to start, we visited a few, and at the time felt so uneasy this was until we went and toured Goodstart South Road. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and at ease, and the kids looked happy. Brittany, the manager, is exceptional and knows how to run a good team. As they say, you know management is good when staff have been there for many years. Everyone looks happy to be in the role. All the staff are professional, warm, and dedicated to creating a positive and engaging environment for children to grow. Goodstart South Road doesn't just have a childcare feel, it feels more homely and more like a family. Knowing our children are in such a nurturing, caring, and safe environment ticks the boxes for us.
My son has been attending Goodstart for over 1.5 years, and he’s had such a wonderful time there. He enjoys every single day, and seeing him thrive in all areas of his development makes us feel incredibly happy and grateful. The staff are attentive and provide personalised care with great attention to detail. They are always patient, kind, and genuinely care about the children. There’s a wide variety of activities throughout the day that keep the kids engaged and learning through play. We really appreciate the nutritious meals provided, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which take a lot of pressure off us as working parents. The team has been consistent with very stable staffing, which gives us peace of mind and helps our son feel secure and settled. We’re truly thankful to have found such a caring and supportive environment for our little one. It’s been a big part of his early years, and we can see how much he’s grown in confidence, language, and social skills.
At Goodstart Bentleigh East - South Road, our philosophy centres around the belief that every child is a unique individual with their own interests and strengths. We embrace a play-based learning approach that nurtures curiosity and creativity, allowing children to explore their world in meaningful ways.
We prioritise:
Through our philosophy, we aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and become confident, capable learners.
Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them.
Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators.
We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.
At our Goodstart Bentleigh East - South Road centre, we're proud to inspire your child's love of learning with the support of our passionate and qualified early childhood experts. Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our three and four-year-old kindergarten program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start school.
At Goodstart, we believe all children deserve the best possible start in life, which includes access to high-quality early childhood education and care. We offer:
We work closely with parents to ensure the individual needs, interests and strengths of children are considered, and our learning goals reflect them. Using Storypark, a wonderful communication platform, we stay in close touch with families and ensure you're well informed about your child's development and achievements.

I have been working in the childcare industry since 2006 and hold an Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services and a Graduate Certificate in Prenatal and Postnatal Family Support. During my career I have had the opportunity to work with many different age groups.
I am passionate about early learning and I adhere to the principle that children learn best through play and sensory based experiences.
I pride myself on dedicating my time to ensuring our centre is providing high quality care to all families in our community. The team I am fortunate to be a part of shares my belief that building lasting relationships and working with families to meet the individual needs and interests of each child is critical to giving children the best possible start.
I look forward to meeting and welcoming you and your family. Come in and take a look around, meet the team and explore how we can support your early learning journey.
