Townsville teacher's tips on regional work and living

Goodstart Geelong East
Goodstart Early Learning Geelong East cares for up to 67 children a day, broken into three room groups – Nursery, Toddlers and Kindergarten / Preschool. Each room offers child oriented and play based educational programs which are aligned to the Early Years Learning Framework, yet designed to meet the individual needs of the children.
Inside, our rooms are set up to provide the highest quality sensory and play based learning, while outside we have vege patches, natural open space and plenty of room for imagination and exploring.
We love sharing the children’s experiences through our Storypark platform which helps us maintain open and clear lines of communication with parents.
All meals are prepared on the premises by our talented cook who ensures tasty, nutritious meals are delivered to the children each day. We currently work on a five week rotating menu which includes many family favourites such as hot roast dinner and hearty lasagne. Dietary restrictions are also catered for.
We incorporate various special events and community days into our programs and calender of events, such as the annual hot cross bun making with our friends from Brumby's Bakery, visits from Geelong Police, and other dress up days.
Our families enjoy celebrating with us and participating in these extra events. They are always eager to attend excursions and functions such as end of year celebrations, children's graduation and grandparent weeks, just to name a few.

Hi my name is Denise Thomas, I'm the Centre Director at Goodstart Geelong East. I have built my career at Goodstart for ten years.
I was the former Assistant Director at Goodstart Torquay Road before being given this wonderful opportunity.
I have been in childcare for 19 years and hold an Advanced Diploma in the Management Sector and a Diploma of Childcare. My family and I emigrated 14 years ago from England and have settled well into the Australian Lifestyle.
I believe in developing strong relationships with all families.
I have worked with all age groups and have been involved in all aspects of child development. I love working with children and believe in providing a warm, comfortable, relaxed learning environment where parents and children can feel a sense of belonging.
I look forward in working with you and your family.

Our kindergarten teachers are University qualified and provide a play-based learning program that will support your child in learning the skills for school and life.
