Townsville teacher's tips on regional work and living
Early childhood teacher Kylie Ryan of Goodstart Kirwan Golf Links Drive shares her insights.
Goodstart Early Learning Ballarat Creswick Road is conveniently located near Ballarat’s central business district, situated along the local bus route and five minutes’ drive from both Ballarat and Wendouree train stations.
Our service provides care for children from six weeks to five years of age. We have two large outdoor play areas, featuring a unique garden setting and a teepee for the children to play in.
Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning; and we are focused on ensuring the children are ready to take that all important step up to school.
Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.
Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Our two areas have sandpits, decks, natural grass mounds, water pumps, dry creek bed, natural garden, vege patches, worm farms and lots of shaded space.
We also have a wonderful on-site cook who prepares healthy meals for morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea.
We maintain close ties with our local community and have visits from representatives of various educational programs, including Living Safety with Pets, Water Safety Awareness, and Happy Feet. Every year we participate in charity events including Relay for Life, Movember, and Shave for a Cure, among others.
Our families enjoy coming together when we celebrate special events such as Special Visitors Day, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea and our Christmas Basket Tea, and we hold an annual local trade night to showcase our parents’ hobbies, businesses and interests. Parents and grandparents are invited to visit the centre at any time.
We would welcome the opportunity to meet you and your family and explore how we can support you on this early learning adventure.
I have 20 years’ experience in the early childhood and early learning industry and I have Diploma of Children’s Services.
For me, it is all about making sure we provide the highest quality in early learning opportunities to our children, while ensuring their parents and families are given the support they need along the way.
We are in a privileged position to play such an important role in the development and growth of our children during those all-important first five years.
It's a passion I share with the team I am fortunate to work with. With years of experience and excellent qualifications, this is a team of dedicated and committed professionals.
