Townsville teacher's tips on regional work and living

Goodstart Altona
Goodstart Altona is located across the road from Altona Primary School, close to Altona Train Station. We are walking distance from Pier Street where there are many shops, cafes, banks and the library. Our child care centre has been operating since 1991.
Our service caters for children from six weeks to five years old. Our centre feels very homely and warm, and offers large yards for the children to play and explore.
Our team of educators have been with the centre consistently, allowing them to build strong relationships with our children. Our educators are from a variety of different countries including India, Lebanon, Thailand, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Australia, and share their cultures and languages with the children. We have a fully qualified Kindergarten teacher who provides a learning program aimed at getting our older children ready for school.
Maintaining communication with families is important to us, and we keep in contact through a variety of methods including face-to-face interactions on a daily basis, and email notifications. Our foyer displays information and news from each of our rooms for families to view during pick-up or drop-off. We encourage our families to spend as much time at the centre as they can.
One of our focuses is on growing and maintaining community connections, and we work closely with Altona Primary School and Altona Kindergarten.

I have a Children's Services Diploma and have worked in the Early Learning sector since 2011.
