Townsville teacher's tips on regional work and living
Early childhood teacher Kylie Ryan of Goodstart Kirwan Golf Links Drive shares her insights.
I am the mother of 7 wonderful children and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Children bring great joy to my life.
I bring with me a portfolio of professional experience ranging from managing OSHC, family day care and long day care services, Community Child Care Benefit funded service as well as specialized qualifications and experience working with more complex need’s families in family support programs.
My passion lies in advocating for and supporting all children to receive a physically and emotionally safe, high-quality early learning experience.
I strongly embrace and celebrate the benefits of First Nations perspectives on the early childhood experience, and I work closely with First Nations community leaders to ensure that early childhood learning environments and curriculum are responsive to the needs of First Nations children.
I really enjoy connection, so, when I am not engaged in all the administration side of being a director, you will often find me in the rooms having a yarn, engaging in critically reflective conversations, and just helping where I can.
They say that educators are children’s first teachers, however, I seem to learn so much from children every day.
I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education, and take great joy and satisfaction in overseeing the educational programs and care at Goodstart Crawford road, Wynnum west.
I have been in the Early Childhood industry for over 20 years and in management for 7 of those years. I have worked in a range of services both private and non for profit, working with children from birth to 12 years.
My Early Learning values:
I strongly believe that your child’s first 5 years are the most important, it’s where they learn the fundamentals for a great start in life.
What I love about our community:
The people! From a quick morning hello to the amazing support given when we do a local fund-raising drive it is the people who build our community.
A little more about me:
When I’m not in the centre, you’ll find me spending time with my family, we enjoy going out on day tours and experiencing this wonderful land we live on. I enjoy reading, dancing and singing, you will often hear me sing about my day, burst out in song to celebrate achievements and to boost moral within the centre.
