Townsville teacher's tips on regional work and living
Early childhood teacher Kylie Ryan of Goodstart Kirwan Golf Links Drive shares her insights.
We're a warm and welcoming early learning centre, where passionate educators support children aged 15 months to five years to thrive through a play-based, child-led curriculum.
Our inclusive learning environment is built on strong relationships with families, the community, and the natural world.
Focusing on curiosity, resilience, and cultural celebration, we empower every child to grow in confidence and joy from nursery to kindergarten.
Our large outdoor spaces and personalised learning programs make us a trusted choice for families across the region.
We'd love to show you around - why not book a tour?
Our four-room centre includes bright, well-resourced spaces for various early learning stages. There's our Lilly Pilly nursery for under 2s, Kangaroo Paws (2-3s), Gumnuts (3-4s), and the Waratah kindergarten room (up to age 5).
We're so proud of the beautiful space we've created. Children enjoy exploring our inviting natural playground, which fosters creativity and connection with the environment.
Our teams actively involve families through Storypark, regular newsletters, and much-loved events.
As an established member of the Warwick community, we also engage in local events and partnerships that enrich children's experiences.
We'd love to welcome you to explore our centre. Book a tour today and see how we can partner to give your child the best possible start.
At Goodstart Warwick – Wood Street, our philosophy centres around the belief that every child is a unique individual with their own interests and strengths. We embrace a play-based learning approach that nurtures curiosity and creativity, allowing children to explore their world in meaningful ways.
We prioritise:
Through our philosophy, we aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and become confident, capable learners.
Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them.
Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators.
We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.
At our Warwick – Wood Street centre, we're proud to inspire your child's love of learning with the support of our passionate and qualified early childhood experts. Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our kindergarten program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start school.
At Goodstart, we believe all children deserve the best possible start in life, which includes access to high-quality early childhood education and care. We offer:
We work closely with parents to ensure the individual needs, interests and strengths of children are considered, and our learning goals reflect them. Using Storypark, a wonderful communication platform, we stay in close touch with families and ensure you're well informed about your child's development and achievements.
