Townsville teacher's tips on regional work and living
Early childhood teacher Kylie Ryan of Goodstart Kirwan Golf Links Drive shares her insights.
Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Mackay - Macalister Street offers the inner city community a place where children can be close to their parents' work, making the daily drop-off and pick-up convenient stress free.
We cater for city workers and for the numerous families who live in Mackay's high density inner city areas with educators committed to delivering the highest standard in early education.
At Goodstart Macalister street our Vision is ‘‘’Where Every Child Belongs’’ and we value diversity and aim to create a sense of family where everybody is welcome.
Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery to Kindergarten - are set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning; and we are focused on ensuring the children are ready to take that all important step up to school.
Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.
Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Although in the centre of town, we still have a large playground to play in, stretch their legs and grow physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually.
Nutritious meals (lunch and afternoon tea) are provided by our centre cook daily. The favourite is pasta carbonara served with a tomato and bean salad. Yum! We cater for babies from six weeks to school age.
A major focus for our centre is working with the broader community to enrich the children’s learning experience. Through visits to the centre as well as excursions and participation in community events, we are able to deepen the relationship between the centre and the community, while teaching the children about being a contributing and active member of society.
We look forward to meeting you and your family soon! Come in and meet the team, take a tour and see how we can work together to give your child the best possible start in life.
