At Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Logan Village we believe that giving your child a good start at life is a community responsibility. Situated in a rural area, providing a peaceful, natural environment in which your children can grow, learn and develop, our centre focuses on the relationships between our educators, our families and our community.

We believe in encouraging our children to have fun and build beautiful friendships in a safe, caring environment - learning through music, language, movement, science and art with professional, nurturing carers. We offer learning environments in groups from Nursery through to Kindergarten.

We strive to achieve learning through fun experiences - across all of your child's development stages, including kindergarten - while helping to develop independence and self-esteem in each child. Our curriculum is developed to incorporate the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines. We believe that family is important and encourage parent input in many areas of our programming.

Parents enjoy coming together for the events we hold throughout the year such as Grandparent's Day, Mother’s Day morning tea, and various other shows and events.

We aim to maintain a strong partnership with the close knit community in Logan Village, including the local school. Our centre here at Logan Village is an important part of the community and is structured around local families and the children. Our connections with community give us the opportunity to welcome interesting visitors who help enrich the children’s learning experience, while embracing diversity and nurturing values around tolerance and understanding.

Hi, I’m Teresa Thoms and I’m the Centre Director here at Goodstart Logan Village.

I was lucky to join the team at Goodstart Logan Village in early 2023 and felt so lucky to join such a dedicated team. I hold an Advanced Diploma of Early Childhood and have a Training and Assessor background for Early Childhood and take great joy and satisfaction in overseeing and caring for the children, families and educators here at Goodstart Logan Village. I have been working within the Early Childhood Industry for 25 years. These years have included training fellow educators and growing Centres as a Director.

My background

I strongly believe that your child’s first experiences in Early childhood education should be positive as it establishes their attitude for learning for their whole life. I believe that fostering children and Educators love of learning and development is important- with my qualifications in Training and Assessing I support my educators to engage in furthering their education and attending professional development courses.

What I love about our community

The people! From a quick morning hello to the amazing engagement, we receive from our community on topics that are near and dear to our hearts- such as Reconciliation and Support the less fortunate, it is the people who build our community. I have met some wonderful people in the community who come from all walks of life. I love stopping to have a chat with these people, helping to support them in their ventures and adding their life's experience and knowledge back into the centres.

A little more about me

When I’m not in the centre, you’ll find me spending time with my family and dog Thor. I have a passion for design and enjoy turning drab unloved rooms into spaces where you can thrive and feel comfortable. In my quiet moments i often pop on a podcast- these include learning more about our amazing industry. I have an 18-year-old daughter who attends the service and performs for the children in our care. My daughter holds her Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care and is working on her Diploma in Dance- you might see Melody around the centre as she often comes dressed up as much loved suit characters, such as Bluey, Coco-melon and more.
